Special places
Places that have been important to me or are just calming and nostalgic to be back in.
Goddard Library
In Junior year I started hanging out in a specific chair in Goddard Library and friends knew to expect to bump into me there. Spent a lot of late nights catching and talking to people, and ended up meeting a lot of new people too.
I remember the chairs in the upper floors of the library were really comfy and I’d go up there to read sometimes and stare out at the horizon of the trees, wondering who was out there that I’d meet in the future. Was where I read Reasons and Persons for the first time and got radicalized into animal welfare.
Annie’s Clark Brunch
Watch Hill
Northampton
Coolidge Corner
The Montague Bookmill
Like if Rivendell were a crunchy bookstore. One of my favorite places to spend a while.
Northfield Mount Hermon
Spent two calming summers working for the school after two difficult years. Was an incredibly peaceful place where I’d teach during the day and spend a while in the evenings just walking around in the silence around the church and the forest.
Oxford
Cambridge/Somerville in Boston
Eden Center
Adams Morgan
Sequoia High School
Where I learned to teach. There was a beautiful pagoda in the center of the school’s yard with a ton of light that I’d look out at every day.
Montreal
Visited with friends a few times. Have a crazy amount of nostalgia and sense of magic in New England in general. Montreal feels like a city hidden in what I think of as the magic of the area.
